Found almost everywhere is New Zealand, Plantain is a low-dwelling perennial plant with oval, ribbed short-stemmed green leaves.
Broad-leaved Plantain is capable of withstanding waterlogged turf and lots of foot traffic. It can survive in either sun or shade and withstand many soil conditions.
It can appear similar to Narrow-Leaved Plantain, with both having veins that run along the length of the leaf.
Control
2,4-D (2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid) is effective, as are the active ingredients Mecoprop (Trimec, Legend and Saxon) and MCPA (Cleansweep and Soft Touch).
